Chapter History
In the Fall of 2007, sixteen women wanted to experience the bond of sisterhood with a connection they all shared- music and the arts. Feeling as though the options they had were not up to their standards, these women hoped to bring a sisterhood like no other onto Florida International University’s (FIU) campus called Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity.
Realizing that they were not the first group of women interested in bringing this organization on campus, they embraced the hardships and dedicated themselves to creating an organization that would maintain the high ideals of sisterhood, support, professionalism, and musicianship.
After two and a half years of diligence and perseverance, the Lambda Omicron Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity was founded on January 30, 2010.
Lambda Omicron has welcomed members from all branches of study at FIU who constantly strive to set the bar higher for each other and the chapter - so that we may continuously achieve the most in our collegiate years to encourage, nurture, and support the art of music.
